about lava support organization

IMAGINE>>>>> Lava erupts in your neighborhood, devouring homes and forcing sudden evacuation.   National Guard and police everywhere. Helicopters buzz overhead. Access to your home and belongings restricted by lava, smoke and dangerous gasses. Earthquakes shaking the earth every few hours. Civil Defense announcements ping on your phone.  And you find yourself unable to go home. Or the lava has burned your home and everything in it.  What do you do? Some have family or friends to stay with. Some go to the huge public building shelters with people and their pets.  Some camp out in tents.  Some sleep in their cars.  Daily reports of lava taking more homes flood the internet and civil defense announcements. Was it your home? Even if you have internet or phone service, which many don't have, official information is spotty. Social media bypasses a lot of the bueracracy and neighbors post info, pictures and video real time.  Government and big organizations are slow and bureacratic.  'Assistance' requires paperwork ,long lines and hassle. Shelters are full and overcrowded with people and pets.  Who is really here to help?

Community members are jumping in, asking people what they really need and immediately getting what people really need directly to them.  The outpouring of community love is amazing and heartwarming.

Lava Support Organization is a 100% volunteer managed organization, people donating time and effort to directly help people in need to find available food, clothing, transportation, counseling and financial help. Focusing on community based, people to people assistance. Volunteers bypassing the paperwork, forms and bureacracy, going directly to the people and giving what they really need.  We are compiling a list of links to all known resources of help. (Do email information about assitance we don't have listed.)

Mahalo nui loa (thank you) to the many compassionate community members doing so much to help.
